Forkable is a marketplace where developers sell working software tools to other developers. These terms cover both sides — buying and selling. They are written to be read, not to be skimmed past, so they are shorter and plainer than most.
1. Who we are, and what we are not
Forkable is a marketplace. When you buy something here, you are buying it from the seller who listed it, not from us. We handle payment, hold the money during the refund window, and run the guarantee described below.
We do not write, own, test, or warrant the tools sold here. Sellers are independent and are responsible for what they list.
2. Your account
- You must be at least 18, or old enough to enter a contract where you live.
- You are responsible for what happens under your account. Keep your password to yourself.
- One person, one account. Do not create additional accounts to get around a limit or a suspension.
3. The refund guarantee
You can refund any purchase yourself, for 14 days, for any reason. There is no form to fill in, no seller to convince, and no explanation required. The button is on your purchases page.
For those same 14 days the seller has not been paid. We hold the money. That hold is what makes the guarantee real rather than a promise, and it is the reason we can offer it.
After 14 days the sale is final and the seller is paid automatically. If something is genuinely broken after that window, contact us — we would rather sort it out than have you feel cheated, but past 14 days it is a favour rather than a right.
Refunding a purchase ends your licence to use what you bought. Continuing to use a tool you have refunded is not something we can technically prevent, but it is theft, and we will close accounts that do it repeatedly.
4. If you are buying
- Every listing has a live demo. Use it before you pay. That is the entire point of this marketplace and it is the best protection you have.
- What you get is described on the listing — usually repository access and setup instructions. Read what is actually promised before buying.
- A purchase licenses the tool for your use. Unless the listing offers an extended licence, that means one project or client. Reselling it, or listing it here or elsewhere as your own, is not allowed.
- You are responsible for your own deployment, your own accounts, and any costs those incur. A tool that needs a paid API key still needs one after you buy it.
5. If you are selling
- You must have the right to sell it. Your own work, or code you are properly licensed to redistribute. Listing someone else's work will get you removed and may get you sued by them.
- Your demo must work and must be honest. It has to show the real tool doing the real thing. A demo that is a video, a mockup, a signup wall, or a different product than the one for sale is grounds for delisting.
- We check demo availability automatically. If yours goes down we will email you. Listings whose demos stay broken get delisted.
- Describe accurately. Overstating what a tool does produces refunds, which cost you more than the honest description would have.
- No malware, no credential harvesting, nothing that damages or spies on the people who run it. This should not need saying, and yet.
6. Money
- Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your card details.
- Sellers are paid through Stripe Connect and must complete Stripe's identity verification before receiving anything. That is a legal requirement, not our preference.
- We take a 15% platform fee on each sale. The fee that applied at the time of a sale is stored with that sale, so a later change never alters what you were charged.
- Prices are in US dollars.
- You are responsible for your own taxes on what you earn here.
7. Content you post
You keep ownership of your listings, descriptions, reviews, and requests. By posting them you give us permission to display and distribute them as part of running the marketplace — including in feeds, search results, and links shared elsewhere.
We can remove anything that breaks these terms, and we can suspend accounts that repeatedly do. Where it is reasonable to tell you why, we will.
8. Reviews
Only people who actually bought a tool can review it — this is enforced by the system, not by policy, so every review you read is from a real purchase. Do not trade, buy, or incentivise reviews. Do not review your own listings from another account.
9. What we do not promise
Forkable is provided as-is. We do not guarantee that any tool sold here is fit for your purpose, that the site is always available, or that a seller will keep maintaining what they sold you. The refund window is your protection, and it is a real one.
To the extent the law allows, our liability to you is limited to the amount you paid through Forkable in the twelve months before the problem arose.
10. Ending things
You can stop using Forkable at any time. We can suspend or close an account that breaks these terms. If we close your account, any refund window still open stays open, and any payout already earned is still paid.
11. Changes
We will update these terms as the marketplace changes. Material changes get an email to registered users before they take effect. Continuing to use Forkable after that means you accept the new version.
